Each of us has a story that we have been writing since the day we were born.  Jon and I are writing a particular chapter in our story that we have titled, "Our Cob Adventure".   Though the chapters before this have led up to where this story starts...we will start this chapter on September 9, 2009.

On 9-9-09 at exactly 9:09am we received an Instant Message from our friend Jodi Dschaak.  We have known Jodi and Harry and their family since 2005.  Our families share a chapter of our lives together...but that is a different story.  :-)

In this particular IM Jodi mentioned that she would be attending a workshop in Oregon to learn how to make Rocket Mass Stoves.  "What?", types I,  "What the hell is a Rocket Mass Stove?"

She then proceeded to type a little about what it is, and who these people are where the workshop is located, and low and behold, it's called The Cob Cottage Company.  (see www.cobcottage.com)

I started to get EXCITED!  I told her she needed to call....typing wouldn't do for all the questions I had for her.  We were on the phone for a couple of hours, and when we hung up...Jon and I jumped on the internet to search all we could about Cob Homes.  By the end of the day, we were totally and completely hooked into the dream of a new life.  We saw a type of life we could have for the rest of our days here on this earth.

In those few hours that day, cob to us became more than a way to build a home...it became a way to build a new life.  At 9:09 that evening we opened a bottle of wine and made a toast, "Here's Mud in Your Eye!" - and our Cob Adventure began...
